Rivercrest was created in 1946, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. This neighborhood originally totaled 367 acres with 95 estates. In the early 1950’s Rivercrest became part of the City of Houston. The first property owners in Rivercrest wanted to be able to keep horses, which allowed them to saddle up their horses, hitch up their buggies and maintain the simpler things in life.
Many of the original homes are being replaced by new construction varying in size from 3,000-20,000 sq ft. Some properties still have water wells and public sewer, but city water is available. The deed restrictions in Rivercrest solidly protect and maintain the minimum size of 3 acres for each property and no subdividing is allowed. |
